Turnover All of Those Apples!

Apple Turnovers

2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups (6 oz.) shredded Cheddar Cheese
6-8 T. water
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. cinnamon
6 medium baking apples, pared cored
1/4 cup margarine
sweetened whipped cream

Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Combine flour & salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; stir in cheese. Sprinkle with water while mixing lightly with fork; form into ball. Divide into 3 equal portions. Roll each on lightly floured surface to 14X7" rectangle; cut into 7" squares.

Combine brown sugar & cinnamon; fill apple centers, topping each with margarine. Sprinkle remaining brown sugar mixture over pastry. Place apple in each square. Fold corners to center; pinch together.

Bake at 425 degrees F, 30-35 minutes. Top with whipped cream.
